Moringa’s full name is Moringa Oleifera and has many different names, such as drumstick tree, horseradish tree or even a ben oil tree.
Moringa is a plant that’s native to North India and most of the plant can be eaten but it is believed that the eaves are the most nutritious.
Moringa powder is one of the most popular forms however it is also added to other supplements and is available in tea form. You can also buy the dried leaves from some health shops.
You have many options with Moringa in powder form. You could sprinkle it onto raw foods such as salads, or use it in cooking and add to pasta and rice dishes. You can also bake with it, stir into dips and sauces, add to shakes or blend into smoothies and ice creams. The possibilities are endless.
To make Moringa powder, the leaves first need to be washed and then shadow dried under suitable atmospheric conditions. It is then turned into a powder. So the nutrient values of the leaf are retained, heat should not be included in any stage of the processing.
Some say that Moringa powder tastes similar to matcha. The flavour is lightly herbal with earthy tones. It can also have a horseradish kick, with the heat being compared with pepper.
